While racing is all about getting there first cruising is about enjoying the journey with little regard for who arrived first, or last for that matter. Within the context of the Waikawa Boating Club cruising is about being on the water, whether it be in a sailboat or a launch, and that’s the end point; the doing, the being out there. While our racing friends are totally focused on winning the race us cruising folks like to keep things cool, calm and comfortable and rather than post-race drinks in the clubhouse we prefer a couple of cool ones while hanging off one of the Club’s 82 moorings out there in the Sounds, a fish on the hook and the barbie warming up, or for the more adventurous safely at anchor somewhere around the coasts of New Zealand doing likewise, or for the super-adventurous maybe at anchor in some out-of-the-way tropical lagoon clothes free and with a tropical cocktail in hand.
Whatever your ambitions if just being on the water is your joy and delight then be assured that the Cruising folks, under the capable and enthusiastic leadership of John Jackson and his team, are keen to help make your cruising days and nights safe and memorable.
