Many clubs and organisations success or otherwise is more than often a direct result of the volunteer work that goes in behind the scenes. We are no different and are fortunate to have an active and vibrant volunteer force. We have many different areas of club activities people can get involved in and meet other like-minded folk.
Our volunteers bring a variety of skills from skippering our Start Boat, to working out the yacht racing handicaps and scoring. From casual bar work to event management and putting on a range of social events in the clubhouse.
Our members also volunteer their time to help with our twice yearly “beach clean” where we collect rubbish from the beaches where we have moorings in Queen Charlotte Sound and Tory Channel. It’s not all hard though – we have a social raft-up that evening!
The Galley Cafe and bar is open on Thursdays from 4.30pm and Club night is Friday from 5pm, we have a great menu and the bar is open. Our volunteers are rostered on to be our official “meet and greet” welcoming person who also sells the raffle tickets that night. It is not as arduous as it may sound as you get to talk to everyone and welcome our newer members. We currently have around 15 people on the roster so your turn will come round once every 3-4 months and you can always swap with another member if you cannot make your night.
