The success of clubs and many other organisations is more often than not, a direct result of the volunteer work that goes in behind the scenes. We are no different and are extremely fortunate to have an active and vibrant volunteer force. We have many different areas of club activities which people can get involved in.
Our volunteers bring a variety of skills from skippering our Start Boat and working out the yacht racing handicaps and scoring. Organising the raft up, training and event management. Casual bar work to welcoming members and visitors in the door at the clubhouse.
Our members also volunteer their time to help with our twice yearly “beach clean” where we collect rubbish from the beaches where we have moorings in Queen Charlotte Sound and Tory Channel. It’s not all hard work though – we have a social raft-up that evening!
Our volunteers are rostered on to be our official “meet and greet” welcoming person who also sells the raffle tickets that night. This is a great job as you get to talk to everyone and welcome our newer members.
