Get aboard a yacht, with an experienced skipper and head out into the gorgeous Queen Charlotte Sound for a few hours each Thursday. On the water, or in the clubhouse if the weather is a bit ugly, you’ll learn the fundamentals of sailing. The seven week program will finish with a fun race between the participating crews.

- Parts of the boat
- Points of sail
- Motor use
- Sails
- Rules
- Navigation
- Man Over Board (MOB)
You’ll also receive:

What will you need:
- Ideally your own lifejacket but don’t rush out and buy one; your boat will have one
- Wet weather jacket. Waterproof! Not a puffer coat
- Ideally white soled, non slip, non marking shoes. No heels!
- No cotton or jeans – wear wool, nylons
- Drink bottle
- After week one you’ll learn what the skipper likes to do post sailing and you might want to contribute to those drinks and nibbles in the coming weeks
