Handicaps and Performance

We use Sailwave for Sailing Results and Scoring Software.

New Boats to the fleet should request a starting handicap, and indicate which type of racing they wish to undertake, the Handicap Committee will allocate a figure until Sailwave takes over.

Handicap Application form

All yachts entered in Club Events will be handicapped by the Handicap Committee.

In all racing the decision of the Handicap Committee will be final.

Communication on handicapping can only be addressed to the Handicap Committee in writing, through “Handicap Review” forms which are available in the Club foyer.

All new yachts must fill in an “Application for Handicap” form. Failure to obtain a WBC handicap means if you race your results will not be calculated.

Yachts must sail in the configuration to which their Club Handicap was issued.  All changes to the configuration must be notified in writing to the Handicap Committee.

Boats may nominate which division they wish to sail in, but the sailing committee has the right to reallocate boats to another division if the numbers are far from balanced in each division and if the speed affects the ability to obtain decent length races for each fleet.

Sailwave handicaps can only be carried from division to division if the Divisions race the same courses.

RaceTrack is used as input to WBC initial handicaps. For an overview of how the RaceTrack system operates, read here

Series Races:

Handicaps for races within Series are now calculated within Sailwave.

Regattas:

Initial handicaps will be allocated by the handicap committee.
